At David Allen, we pride ourselves on being people focussed. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, we like to invest in our own and encourage our staff to expand and grow at every opportunity. That is why offering opportunities to the local emerging talent is so important to us. One of our new members of the team, Troy Barbour, tells us about his experiences of joining #TeamDA.
‘I joined #TeamDA in March 2021 as an Accounts Apprentice, after working as a typist in a Solicitors. I heard about it through a Facebook post promoting Apprenticeships and knew straight away that it was something I wanted to be a part of!
I am loving every minute of being here at David Allen. There is so much to absorb and learn but the team are very helpful, patient, and supportive. I also have a development plan in place which is really useful, this helps to ensure I reach my full potential and progress through the business.’
We asked Troy to take part in a little Q&A:
Where do you see yourself in five years?
After 5 years of working at David Allen I would like to have completed my AAT Courses and be well on my way to getting my Chartered status.
What’s the biggest perk of working at David Allen?
In my opinion, flexi time is one of the biggest perks. It allows for a really flexible work life.
What did you do before you joined David Allen?
Before I joined DA, I spent 2 months in a Solicitors in Sanquhar called Pollock & McLean. My role there was being a typist. I enjoyed my time there, but I knew it wasn’t what I wanted to do.
What attracted you to #TeamDA?
I found out about David Allen through the Facebook page when they were promoting their apprenticeships, this was something that I wanted to be a part of straight away.
Amy Muirhead, Manager of our Dumfries office said, ‘I am thrilled to welcome Troy to #TeamDA. We have a fantastic team in Dumfries, all of whom have our client’s best interests at heart. Troy fits in very well with our culture and shares our passion for success. We wish Troy all the very best as he begins his career with us.’
