Aims and Purpose of the Job
As a Tax Assistant Apprentice, you will assist and work as part of the firm’s Tax department to ensure that the team meet all appropriate HMRC deadlines on behalf of their clients. You will be responsible for preparing and submitting Self Assessment tax returns in accordance with relevant legislation, for checking tax repayments and other correspondence from HMRC and reconciling differences with our calculations. You will develop and consolidate your knowledge of professional tax services by undertaking and successfully completing a Level 4 Taxation Technician qualification.
About the Apprenticeship
During your apprenticeship you will develop your tax knowledge by studying for the Association of Taxation Technicians qualification and, upon completion, will become a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians, one of the two leading taxation professional institutions in the UK. The training is delivered online by our training provider and includes personal tax, business tax, ethics and law.
You will be assessed via an ‘end point assessment’ which will consist of a case study examination and a portfolio that will evidence your learning and development. On successful completion of this apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to progress to a Level 7 Taxation Professional apprenticeship. This involves studying for the Chartered Institute of Taxation examinations. You will develop further skills and knowledge through practical work experience with a variety of clients, online training, self-study and other tax-related courses.
