Meet Connor Fish, an inspiring individual whose journey from school to success at David Allen IT Solutions exemplifies the incredible impact of apprenticeship programs. At the young age of 16, Connor made a pivotal decision to enrol in a Level 3 apprenticeship with Carlisle College in 2016, effectively combining classroom learning with real-world experience.
For Connor, the apprenticeship program was a no-brainer. Working four days a week and dedicating a final day to college, he found that learning in a workplace setting was far more effective than in the confines of a traditional classroom. The bonus of earning a wage and graduating without the burden of debt made this choice not just sensible but empowering.
Joining David Allen through this apprenticeship was a move driven by Connor’s awareness of the firm’s reputation as an excellent workplace.
Since joining David Allen, Connor has become an advocate in the realm of IT solutions. His journey has been marked by continuous development, not only in technical expertise but also in customer service skills. This growth has empowered him to offer consultancy services to clients, showcasing the multifaceted nature of his contributions.
Connor’s commitment to providing a personal and confident touch in every client interaction is a testament to his dedication. Whether handling support calls or engaging in project work, he ensures that queries are addressed with precision and care, minimising the possibility of errors. The pleasure he takes from resolving issues or implementing new solutions is evident, especially when clients are swiftly back up and running.
Clients consistently applaud Connor for his helpful and understanding demeanour. His ability to communicate effectively, coupled with his adept problem-solving skills, has made him an invaluable asset to the team and a trusted partner for clients.
Connor Fish’s story is more than a testament to the success of apprenticeship programs; it’s a celebration of determination, strategic thinking, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. His journey serves as an inspiration for current and future apprentices, highlighting the incredible possibilities that arise from seizing opportunities and investing in one’s potential.
What Connor had to say about his career path, ‘Learning in a workplace is much more effective than in a classroom never mind also earning a wage and having no debt at the end of the apprenticeship. Looking back this was an easy decision for me and I am incredibly pleased to see how current and previous apprentices are following the same path as I once did.’
