On conversion to an academy in 2011 we appointed auditors based in Lancaster.
Working with a practice based so far away was not always ideal so we decided to put the audit out to tender in 2013 and David Allen were successful and were appointed as auditor to Caldew School based in Dalston.
Alison Welton and her team carried out the audit and we were really pleased with the whole process. Although the work is detailed and intense, the team worked well with our staff and were always professional and helpful and it was clear they were knowledgeable and experienced in working with academies.
The audit process was very thorough and Alison explained the findings to us in an easy and clear manner so that the trustees gained a good understanding of the accounts and the work carried out. Alison and the team identified improvements which could be made to our systems and processes and it was great to get this feedback and added value from the audit process.
We have built up a good relationship with the team at David Allen and I know that they are always available to assist with any queries we have.
I strongly believe that working with a local accountancy practice will add value to our academy and would recommend Alison and her team.
