Andy Mapp, IT Consultant, explains how David Allen IT Solutions migrated Mallinson Fabrications Ltd current IT infrastructure to Microsoft365 including SharePoint and the implementation of Microsoft Teams Voice.
Mallinson Fabrications Ltd, established 1967, are based in Dalston. They provide a range of services in steel fabrication, storage container hire, precision engineering and consultancy support with customers around the UK.
Andy said, ‘Following a review of their IT requirements, I was able to provide recommendations for their IT infrastructure, migrating their data from an existing file server to Microsoft 365.
Microsoft 365 was chosen as the main business platform, and a migration to the Modern Workplace solution was provided, giving secure access to files for collaboration from any location.

Part of the installation included the setup and configuration of Microsoft 365 Cloud Backup Solution which was fully implemented and is tested monthly. Having a fully managed IT support contract with us ensures ongoing data recovery tests as part of our daily maintenance procedures, giving customers peace of mind.’
The out-of-date phone system was no longer meeting business requirements, Microsoft Teams Voice was the implemented solution. The business telephone number was retained and imported into Microsoft, new call flows were configured, and touch display phone handsets were installed.
Following a bedding in period the project was completed with the decommissioning of the old server.
Billy Mallinson, Managing Director said, ‘The migration to 365 was seamless, it has been great for the business. Teams will take a little while to get used to, we needed to get our heads around the fact that there wasn’t a local network anymore.
With regards to the phone system, I think overall, it is the best VOIP system I have had any experience of, and it has a lot of advantages with the auto attendant and ringing on multiple devices.
