At David Allen IT Solutions, we believe in fostering meaningful partnerships that go beyond mere business transactions. Our journey as a Corporate Patron of Tullie, a captivating cultural destination nestled in historic Carlisle, has been a testament to the power of collaboration. Over seven years, we have witnessed Tullie evolve into a world class institution, representing innovation and cultural preservation.
One of our recent collaborations with Tullie involved a significant milestone – the server replacement project. Undertaking such an endeavour required not just technical expertise but also an understanding of the client’s unique needs.
Katie Proud, Head of Finance and Operations from Tullie, expressed her satisfaction, stating, “We recently worked with Gary and Neil on our server replacement project. This was a significant project for us in terms of financial investment and improvements to our IT infrastructure.”
Gary identified annual cost savings, ensuring that the investment paid for itself in less than two years. Meanwhile, Neil meticulously coordinated the server transfer, guaranteeing minimal impact on Tullie’s day to day operations. Katie Proud remarked, “From a user’s perspective, they did not notice a difference, and that is all we can ask for.”
Having supported Tullie for seven years, we have been privileged to witness and contribute to their growth. Tullie’s journey, marked by innovation and community engagement, aligns seamlessly with our commitment to excellence.
The project included the following work:
- Installation of new server hardware to replace aging, end-of-life systems.
- Migration of virtual machines from old hardware.
- Upgrade of server operating systems to the latest versions.
- Installation and setup of a new remote access server, secured with Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for enhanced security.
- Decommissioning of redundant Data Centre services.
- Migration of Line of Business (LOB) applications to the new server infrastructure.
- Implementation of Veeam Enterprise onsite and offsite backup and disaster recovery solutions.
What sets this project apart is that all the work took place out of hours, ensuring zero downtime for the Tullie team. Gary Martin rightly notes “It was a highly complicated fantastic project delivered with no downtime to their organisation and ensuring we were about to give the best service.”
At David Allen IT Solutions, our journey with Tullie goes beyond technological solutions; it is about contributing to a cultural legacy. The success of the server replacement project is a testament to our commitment to providing our clients with the highest level of service. As Tullie continues to enchant visitors with its cultural treasures, we stand proud as partners in their journey, ready to support future endeavours and contribute to the everlasting legacy of this world class institution.
In December 2023, Tullie took the exciting steps to temporarily close their doors for the next stage of their redevelopment work program which looks to revitalise the entrance and atrium space, create new retail offering and create a brand new ground floor gallery dedicated to the Great Border City of Carlisle, with the doors looking to reopen in the Summer 2024.
