For me, computing is a hobby that went out of control at the age 14. I graduated with an honours degree in Electronic Engineering and worked briefly in electronic equipment servicing and repair. That was followed by 25 years working for an international charity in a variety of retail and IT management roles, including five years travelling internationally on a ship and six years living in Germany. Work then brought me to Carlisle in 2005.
I have built up a wealth of knowledge in IT, particularly in analysis, strategic planning, delivery and support of IT systems. I believe I am able to cut through the jargon and ‘techno-babble’ where necessary to deliver appropriate information to each group.
In 2019 I was looking for a new challenge and a friend who works for David Allen made me aware of this opportunity. In my previous job I was a client of David Allen, so I was familiar with the level of professional excellence and customer care that the firm delivers. It was a simple choice to join such a fantastic team, delivering top-class service to local businesses.
I have been involved in many projects over the years, however, the one I am most proud of so far is delivering a large modernisation project for an IT infrastructure, just in time for the first Covid lockdown. This enabled David Allen to keep functioning whilst the vast majority of staff were working from home.
I am married and have two sons. Having grown up by, also having lived on, the sea I absolutely love exploring the Cumbrian coast. While the masses flock to the lakes, my wife and I can often be found exploring some deserted gem on our amazing coast. I can also communicate in Morse code and know how to fly a Boeing 737 (on a computer, of course)!
