I am the first point of contact for clients visiting our Dumfries office or calling us by telephone. I manage reception, handle a variety of administrative tasks and support the accounts team.
My career began in administration, spending nearly 20 years at an agricultural feed merchant. During that time, I developed a keen interest in bookkeeping which motivated me to seek fresh opportunities. When I found the role at David Allen, it felt like the perfect match for my aspirations.
I enjoy the variety my role offers with every day bringing something new. Recently, I have expanded my knowledge and skills by assisting with small accounts and agricultural VAT returns. This has not only given me more confidence but also helped me understand the work we do so I can give clearer and more helpful answers when I take calls.
Currently, I am studying for a BA (Hons) in Business Management Accounting with The Open University which has been beneficial in my daily work. I am also working towards my Xero certification enabling me to contribute even more effectively to the team. I am excited about the potential to make a greater impact in my role at David Allen.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is building strong relationships with our clients. I love connecting with people and seeing familiar faces on a regular basis makes the job even more fulfilling.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my partner and daughter, exploring the countryside through walking and trail running. Exercise helps me maintain a clear mind and strikes a good balance between my personal and professional life.
