How work experience led to an exciting career for me

We pride ourselves on staff development and Alice Beattie is a perfect example of this.

After completing work experience with David Allen, I joined the Agriculture team in 2017 as an Accounts Apprentice. I completed my Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification in May 2021 and was promoted to the next role on the career ladder,  Accounts Assistant. I feel I have gone from strength to strength at David Allen as I was promoted to Accounts Senior in July 2021 and Agriculture Supervisor in January 2023.

After three days of work experience, I knew David Allen was the place for me. The professionalism within the company and welcoming environment is second to none. I have never looked back.

The firm has a wide range of experience and knowledge and anyone completing a qualification is supported by their team and colleagues who have already completed the qualification. I am currently in a final year of ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant).

In my day to day role, I prepare accounts and VAT returns for clients. I am certified in the accounting software Xero, enabling me to complete accounts accurately and in a timely manner.

I have hands on experience within the farming world, having grown up on my family farm, so the Agriculture team is perfect for me. I have valuable background knowledge and experience and can relate to clients’ needs and concerns.

It is satisfying to see a client’s business develop because of the advice and support we have given them and this is a huge part of my role with David Allen.
