When your current mortgage deal is coming to an end, your lender will notify you to say that you will automatically be placed on to their ‘standard variable rate’. If we lived in a world that was jargon-free, the notification from your lender would actually say ‘this is the basic average mortgage rate and probably not the best offer we have!’.
David Allen Financial Services aim to remove the jargon and ultimately make your life as easy as possible. With that in mind, a standard variable rate basically means you could be paying over the odds on what is already your largest monthly outgoing. New figures show mortgage borrowers sitting on their lender’s standard variable rate are paying hundreds, and sometimes thousands of pounds more than they ought to be.
It is common practice to use comparison sites for the best deals on insurance and other household bills. However, when it comes to mortgage deals, there are far more complexities, clauses, and criteria that you have to consider – especially when there are so many different lenders and types of mortgages out there! So, let us help you, like we have helped so many before.
Donna Wilson, our mortgages and protection specialist, recently met with Mr Hamlet who was paying over the odds on his mortgage. Utilising our in-house systems to access whole of market advice and researching the market, we secured him a deal that saved him valuable monthly funds. Mr Hamlet then kindly got in touch to share some great feedback; “Donna is a great person to talk to, she sorted us out with another great deal on our mortgage.”
Grab your latest mortgage statement, give one of our mortgage advisers a call and let us try and save you some money. We have a team of experts that cover our Dalston, Dumfries, Penrith and Workington offices.
